Long-time producer and instructor Brian Posen has been recognized for his achievements in Chicago’s comedy scene by media outlets New City and PerformInk, among many others. A former production head for The Second City improv school, Brian Posen spent nearly 25 years as an instructor for Columbia College Chicago.
Students at Columbia College’s renowned theater program learn acting techniques, stage production, and set design from some of the most accomplished professionals in Chicago theater. The department produces over 40 shows a year, giving students ample first-hand experience in theater production.
The college runs several unique programs that enrich the experience of its theater majors. The director’s program supports the creation of student-led productions. In collaboration with legendary comedy venue The Second City, Columbia College also offers its students a chance to earn college credits while enrolled in Second City courses such as comedy writing and improv performance. In addition, the International Theatre program enables students to study at performing art institutions around the world.
